However, not many realize that when you release a balloon, there is damage done to the environment at the expense of bringing a smile to someone’s face. The Airship cares about the environment and therefore we are making green efforts to help you (and us) do more for the environment. And we hope that by spreading the knowledge of balloons, we can reduce the amount of damage done to the earth.
Helium-filled balloons float because helium is lighter than air, which is a mixture of gases. It is also the lightest gas in the world. Despite being inflated with an environmentally friendly gas that is non-flammable, non-toxic and non-radioactive, helium balloons can pose a great environmental problem when they are being released into the skies or disposed improperly.
Latex is an earth-friendly and biodegradable product that have not gone through the process of vulcanization. It decomposes in approximately 6 months on land, which is as fast as an oak tree leaf in your backyard. Decomposition takes place even faster once it has been inflated, due to an increase in the amount of surface area that is being exposed to air. The process of latex harvesting does not damage the tree and in fact, it discourages deforestation as these trees can produce latex for up to 40 years and thus are often left intact. Harvesting is often done by cutting the tree’s bark and then catching the latex that drips out of the cut in a cup.
Latex balloons that are released into the skies can float up to a maximum of approximately 8 kilometers before it turns brittle and shatters into minuscule pieces which falls back to earth. However, due to possible improper inflation and also the possibility of the presence of a weight (e.g. strings), many latex balloon fails to reach the height at which shattering occurs and thus deflates and falls back onto the earth. Deflated latex poses a great threat to animals through indigestion and entanglement. This is especially true to marine animals, as latex takes 12 months to lose its elasticity in water, which is double compared to the time it takes to decompose on land, due to the absence of the oxygen in the air.
Foil balloons are made of two sheets of plastic polyethylene and nylon which was then coated with a thin layer of aluminum. They should never be allowed to be released into the atmosphere as they are non-biodegradable and thus poses a even greater threat to the wildlife. Foil balloons are a conductor of electricity and it can cause outages, as it gets entangled with power lines. On top of it all, balloons released can also interfere with air traffic, which is a threat to pilots and the passengers on plane.
Given the many environmental threats that it brings, The Airship discourages the release of balloons. We hope to be environmentally responsible for our products by spreading the knowledge to our customers.
Balloon clips are also avoided when tying our balloons as they are made of plastic, which is non-biodegradable. Our balloons are majority hand tied, with balloon clips avoided unless necessary. We have also found many ways to recycle and reuse foil balloons.
Green Efforts
The Airship loves the earth and therefore we are making an effort to eliminate our pollution through our Green Efforts. We believe in enriching our customers with knowledge about our products and thus we have dedicated a section of our site just for it.
We do not support balloon releasing.
We adopt a re-purchase system for mylar balloons.
We do not use plastic clips for our latex balloons.
Re-Inflation Many foil balloons have a resealable valve that allows it to be re-inflated for about two to three times before the valve becomes unreliable.
Sell it Back to Us We provide a re-purchase system for used balloons purchased through us. To sell us your used balloons, simply drop us a notice with the invoice number that was given to you when you bought the balloons. You can then mail us your balloon together with the invoice number after we give you a reply.

Gift Bag or Wrapping Paper
Due to the quality and shininess of the material, foil balloons make extremely great gift bags as they are very thin and hard-wearing. You can tie it up easily with a ribbon, unlike paper. Cut away sealed areas to utilize it as a wrapping paper. They also make great wine bottle wrappers.
Scrap Booking
Cut the balloons up and use it for scrapbook purposes. They are great as a background due to the shiny nature.
Animal deterrence
Deflated balloons can be hung on the fruit trees to scare animals away. They can also be used to envelope certain fruits to prevent them from being eaten by insects and animals as the foil is waterproof. They work better than plastic bags as they are more hard-wearing.

We currently only accept payment through bank transfers that are done via internet banking (IB). We are sorry to inform that we do not accept interbank transfers, ATM bank transfers nor cash.

Q: There's a change in the details of the product on the website right after I just made an order. How will that affect me? A: Due to a need to offer our customers better products & services, our website is constantly undergoing changes from time to time. We normally log the time of an update, thus if your order is made within half an hour after an update, you are entitled to change your order details. This is also why we encourage our customers to complete their order within 30 minutes and refresh the page before you order in case of an update.
Q: What happens when I forget to make a payment? A: We will remind you again to make the necessary payment. Orders which are not paid will not be sent out. As for deliveries, payment not made within the day before delivery will automatically be canceled by us.
Q: Can I make any changes to my order(s)? A: We understand the need to make changes and we try to be as flexible as possible without causing a delay in our operations. You can make changes to your order(s) as long as payment has not been made.
Q: How long can the balloons float? A: It depends from brand to brand and also the make of the balloons. Latex balloons normally last for 8 hours. However, latex balloons treated with Hi-Float can last up to 3 days. As for foil balloons, they normally last up to 5 days, indoors. There are however some balloons with extra long life that will be able to last up to a month. These balloons are generally more expensive.
